Everything teachers, parents, and admins want to know about Vibe-Verse Phonics.
Vibe-Verse is a 20-resource phonics intervention system disguised as a premium anime-style trading card game. It covers R-controlled vowels (AR, OR, ER/IR/UR) and is aligned to UFLI Lessons 77–82 and the Science of Reading. Students decode phonics words to power their attacks — turning every battle into a practice session.
Grades 1–3 and intervention groups. The core rules work for 2nd–3rd graders, and the included Junior Rules simplify gameplay for 1st graders (free retreat, rock-paper-scissors instead of coin flips).
Not at all. The visual rules guide walks you through everything step-by-step. Most teachers learn the game in under 5 minutes. If your students have played Pokémon, they'll pick it up even faster — the mechanics are intentionally familiar.
21 resources total: 40-card starter deck with full-color anime art, visual rules guide, printable A3 playmat, data tracking sheet, curriculum alignment guide, multilingual translation guide (Korean + Mandarin), caregiver introduction letter, and 14 themed UFLI-aligned phonics activities.
Vibe-Verse maps directly to UFLI Lessons 77–82 (R-controlled vowels). Use it as a center activity, small-group intervention, or reward-time game. The included Curriculum Alignment Guide shows exactly which standards are covered — you can hand it directly to your principal.
Yes. The Data Tracking Sheet documents phonics mastery by pattern (AR, OR, ER/IR/UR) and is formatted for intervention logs. It tracks accuracy, fluency, and engagement across sessions.
10–15 minutes for a full match. That's perfect for a center rotation or the last 15 minutes of a phonics block. Quick games keep engagement high and give you time for multiple rounds.
The game is designed for 2 players per match. For a full class, set up multiple game stations. Print extra decks as needed — your license covers unlimited printing for your classroom.
Print, cut, play. That's it. No laminating required (though it helps for durability). No setup instructions to decode, no lost pieces to track. The cards are designed for standard home/school printers on US Letter or A4 paper.
Every card includes Korean (한국어) and Mandarin Chinese (中文) translations alongside English. The Translation Guide provides full linguistic parity for all card abilities and game terms.
These are two of the fastest-growing multilingual communities in US schools, and they're underserved by existing phonics materials. The K-pop and anime aesthetic also creates a culturally responsive bridge that makes the content feel relevant and exciting for these students.
Absolutely. The game mechanics are visual and intuitive — numbers, icons, and card art carry most of the gameplay. The Usage Strike (reading the phonics word aloud) is the core learning moment, and the translations help students connect meaning across languages.
The Caregiver Introduction Letter is currently in English, but the Translation Guide gives parents the vocabulary they need to support gameplay at home in Korean or Mandarin.
All resources are formatted for both US Letter (8.5" × 11") and A4. The playmat prints best on A3 or 11" × 17" (tabloid), but a Letter-size version is included too.
Color is strongly recommended for the cards and playmat — the anime art is a huge part of student engagement. The data tracking sheet and parent letter work fine in black and white.
Optional but recommended for durability. If you laminate, use matte lamination to reduce glare. Alternatively, print on cardstock (65–80 lb) for a sturdier feel without laminating.
